How do we assess for strengths and needs?
At Flourish Learning we use the Woodcock Johnson IV. Only jkhjkhdfhsjkd can use this comprehensive standardised assessment tool.
Using the Woodcock-Johnson test batteries, we can evaluate the skills involved in effective learning such as:
- Language and auditory skills
- Visual skills and spatial awareness
- Speed of processing
- Short and long term memory
- Reading, spelling and mathematics
- Handwriting
- Attention, concentration and academic fluency
How long does it take?
The assessment itself takes 3-4 hours.
When will i receive the report?
The report takes 10-12 hours to write up, complete with recommendations for support. We generally give a guide of a 3-4 week turn around for the report to be completed, but always aim to get it to you before this time.
Why does it cost so much?
When an assessment using the Woodcock Johnson IV is carried out, you know that you are receiving a comprehensive assessment by a trained and registered professional, that is adhering to NZ standards, and who ensures reliability and validity of the test. You are ensuring that you not only determine wether there is a learning need, but specifically what that need is and how to address it. We offer follow up support and resources once you have received your report, and can work with your child's teacher or tutor to help them to tailor their programme's to meet the needs of the person in question.
Is there financial Support available?
Yes. SPELD nz offers
I have heard of others charging around $100, why is that?
Other basic tests that determine only if there is a learning need are available. These take as little as 30 minutes, and do not tell you what the need is. They are also not recognised by....and are not required to be carried out by trained professionals, ensuring reliability and validity of the test. As they do not tell you what the need is, they also don't offer specific recommendations for how to support the person in question.
